Introduction

यह लेख 'मोना या मोनू?' एक आकर्षक कहानी के रूप में क्लाउनफ़िश ;Clownfish; में पाए जाने वाले अनोखे यौन प्रजनन (Sexual Reproduction) और लिंग परिवर्तन (Sex Change) की वैज्ञानिक अवधारणा को समझाता है। कहानी मिट्टू और उसकी माँ के बीच बातचीत पर आधारित है, जहाँ मिट्टू को जन्मदिन पर क्लाउनफ़िश मिलती है। माँ बताती हैं कि क्लाउनफ़िश उन चुनिंदा प्रजातियों में से है जो अपना लिंग बदल सकती हैं। क्लाउनफ़िश के समूह में सबसे बड़ी मछली मुखिया मादा होती है, और उसके मरने पर समूह का सबसे बड़ा नर अपने आप को मादा में बदल लेता है। यह क्षमता एक उद्विकासी लाभ (Evolutionary Advantage) प्रदान करती है। चूँकि क्लाउनफ़िश एकांत में छोटे समूहों में रहती हैं, इसलिए यह गुण प्रजनन सुनिश्चित करता है और साथी खोजने की समस्या को कम करता है। इस तरह, कहानी जीवविज्ञान के जटिल विचारों को रोचक संवाद के माध्यम से विद्यार्थियों तक पहुँचाती है।
